Graduate School Workshops | Spring 2017
@ The Graduate School Space (M104)
Wednesdays from 12.30pm to 2pm

This series of workshops is designed and led by the Academic Support team at London College of Communication. All sessions will include activities and discussions aimed at providing postgraduate students with strategies to develop their creative thinking and academic skills.. The workshops are offered to cross-college students, allowing opportunities to meet other graduates at LCC. Lunch refreshments are included.

18 January | Collaborative Practice 1

This workshop will explore the nature of collaboration and its relationship to cooperation. You will consider the formation of groups and investigate inclusive approaches to team roles and responsibilities along with decoding collaborative briefs, writing proposals and establishing milestones and short term goals with partners.

1 February | Collaborative Practice 2

During this workshop students will investigate how to be more skilful in cooperating with others and consider the nature of interdisciplinary research.  We will discuss group communication and conflict resolution and you will reflect upon ethical working practices, ownership and collusion.

15 February | Using Theory and Finding Your Critical Voice

During this session we will discuss what ‘voice’ may mean within the contexts of writing and studio practice. Students will consider how to locate and maintain a critical voice while discussing the thorny issue of original thinking.

1 March | Writing Critical Reports

This workshop will consider the nature of critical and reflective report writing. Practical examples will be used to highlight the forms and conventions of the critical report alongside current debates about style, language & tone.
